Flyweight title bout is on the marquee for LFA 78
Legacy Fighting Alliance has announced a return to Colorado that will see the flyweight title on the line between two former title challengers who know each other well.
The flyweight title is on the line at LFA 78, in a rematch from LFA 39, where Brandon Royval scored a first round TKO of Jerome Rivera, after Rivera dislocated his elbow attempting to brace himself against the cage after having a kick caught.
Both fighters will head into the bout coming off submission victories by armbar. Royval submitted Joby Sanchez at LFA 65, while Rivera submitted Gene Perez at Jackson’s MMA Series 27. Both also know what it’s like to come up short in a title fight. Royval was out grappled by Casey Kenney at LFA 53, while Roberto Sanchez submitted Rivera at LFA 14.
Quotes from LFA.com: “We are excited to bring the LFA flyweight championship to Colorado,” stated Ed Soares LFA CEO. “Brandon Royval and Jerome Rivera first fought each other at LFA 39. It was a highly anticipated bout that ended early due to an unfortunate elbow injury that Rivera sustained, while bracing himself against the cage. Now that both men are fully healed and healthy, we will run this back with the title on the line at LFA 78.”
Welterweights meet in the co-main event as Contenders Series vet Anthony Adams looks to build of his LFA 57 knockout of Josh Cavan when he tangles with Kassius Kayne, who has his last 3 wins by knockout.
LFA 78 is October 4 at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
