Renan Barao (34-9-0, 1 NC) has been in a slump ever since losing his UFC strap to T.J. Dillashaw back at UFC 173. Since the bout, he has gone 2-7 with losses to top talents such as Aljamain Sterling, Luke Sanders, and Douglas Silva de Andrade. On a 5-fight losing skid, “The Baron” will now fight at ARES FC against French prospect William Gomis.
Gomis (9-2-0) holds 6 of his 9 wins by way of finish. His last outing came against Arip Yakubov at UAE Warriors 28, where he defeated Yakubov via first-round ground and pound.

Having won 7 straight, the 24-year-old will look to make a statement come June against the former UFC champion.
The main event of the evening will feature a welterweight title bout between Abdoul Abdouraguimov (C) and Karl Amoussou. In the co-main event, Jose Galindo and Akhmed Salamov will battle it out for the vacant middleweight strap.
ARES FC 7 takes place on June 25th at the Le Dome de Paris in Paris, France, and will be broadcasted on UFC Fight Pass.
