Francis Marshall looks to get a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series

Francis Marshall has been a highly looked at prospect from a young age.

In November of 2019, Marshall made his pro debut at Maverick MMA 15 in Scranton, PA and he would win this debut by submission.

Prior to that fight, the promotors for the event were telling everyone to keep an eye on Marshall because he was going to be in the UFC one day.

The promotors weren’t the only ones that thought that highly of Marshall as his head coach Kurt Pellegrino, who previously fought in the UFC, knew he was training a future big-time fighter.

To help Marshall with his career, Pellegrino used his connections from his UFC days to get his athlete into a promotion in Louisiana in order to get Marshall used to traveling, cutting weight and spending a full fight week away from home.

As it turns out, Pellegrino made the right decision as now Marshall has the biggest fight of his life with a UFC contract on the line as Marshall will fight Connor Matthews on Aug. 2 on Dana White’s Contender Series.

While Marshall is only 23-years-old and only has five fights under his belt, the UFC matchmakers saw the potential in him and sent him a contract for the contender series and now Marshall is planning to improve to 6-0 as professional fighter and most importantly, he’s planning on leaving the UFC Apex in Las Vegas with a UFC contract on his way back home to New Jersey.

Prior to the fight, Marshall spoke with MyMMANews about his upcoming fight, training under Pellegrino and his excitement for the opportunity. You can watch his full interview in the video above.
