Francis Ngannou explains his decision to sign with the PFL

Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou explained his decision to sign with the PFL.

Ngannou has been a free agent for several months now and he spoke to a number of other MMA promotions about signing with them, including the UFC and ONE Championship. In the end, though, the former UFC heavyweight kingpin chose the PFL to sign with, as the promotion announced on Tuesday morning the signing is official. As part of the deal, Ngannou will not only make a sizeable purse for his fights, but he’ll also get a number of other perks, including being part of the PFL Global Advisory Board. Although he is no longer in the UFC, it seems like Ngannou landed in the second-best spot that he could, and it will be exciting to see what he does under his new room in the PFL.

Ahead of his PFL debut, Ngannou spoke about why he decided to sign with the PFL over the other MMA promotions. Ultimately, according to Ngannou, it was an easy decision for him to make.

“It was easy. I think it was the easiest choice made because from Day 1 that I talked to them, I understand their vision, their global vision, their vision for the sport,” Ngannou told DAZN MMA  (via MMAjunkie.com).  “Personally, I didn’t say it in the meeting, but I saw the direction and it personally aligned with what I was looking for and everything that they were coming up was pretty much what I was looking at. Then we get to other details of the deal, and they gave me a really good deal. Out of everyone, this is the best deal for me, for what I want and for the values and my principles.”

How do you think Francis Ngannou will perform in the UFC, and are you excited for the signing?
