Francis Ngannou has requested a title fight with Stipe Miocic for December
The UFC heavyweight division is always filled with exciting fights and more exciting stars. One of these stars is Francis Ngannou who very well might be the scariest puncher in the entire UFC. Ngannou has shown that he is among the best of the best at heavyweight and although one of his only 2 UFC losses comes from the hands of the champion Stipe Miocic, Ngannou is looking for another shot. Ngannou spoke to The Schmo about this request.
“I requested for December 12, which is the last pay-per-view of the year,” Francis Ngannou told The Schmo. “Almost over two months from now and I’m expecting to have that date.”
Miocic last fought on August 15 when he defeated Daniel Cormier to retain the heavyweight title. Since facing Ngannou back in 2018, Miocic has fought Cormier three times. He has not expressed a timeline in which he would like to return at this time. Even though it seems on paper that Ngannou would be the next likely opponent for the champion, there is one x-factor that might come into play, Jon Jones.
Jones has stated his intentions to make the move up to heavyweight for his next fight. Although he was not specific on the time it would take, many believed that he would earn a title shot in his debut. Jones has been rumored to a fight with Ngannou in the past that never materialized. Perhaps if Ngannou fights Miocic and wins, that could be the perfect recipe for Jones vs. Ngannou for the title.
UFC 256 which is scheduled for Dec. 12 is the potential landing spot for the rescheduled Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns and Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson, although not officially announced for that date.
