Francisco Prado keeps 100 percent finish rate, TKO’s Ottman Azaitar at UFC Vegas 77

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, July 15, 2023, for UFC Vegas 77, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.

Headlining the event is a bantamweight clash between no. 3 ranked former champion Holly Holm (15-6) and no. 10 ranked Mayra Bueno Silva (10-2-1).

Co-headlining the event is a welterweight showdown between rising star, no. 14 ranked Jack Della Maddalena (14-2) and debutante Bassil Hafez (8-3).

Our feature fight of the evening came in the lightweight division between a pair of dangerous finishers in 33-year-old Ottman Azaitar (13-2) and 21-year-old prodigy Francisco Prado (12-1).

Both men came into tonight’s bout off the first defeats of their respective careers; Azaitar’s to Matt Frevola (KO) in November, and Prado’s to Jamie Mullarkey (UD) in February. Of Azaitar’s 13 wins, 12 came via finish with 10 knockouts and 2 submissions, while Prado had a 100% finish rate with 5 knockouts and 6 submissions.

Official Result: Francisco Prado def. Ottman Azaitar via TKO (punches) at 4:05 of round one

Prado finds the range with his leg kicks early on, before landing a spinning back elbow that drops Azaitar on his second attempt throwing it. Prado lands right in Azaitar’s half guard, where he reigns down some absolutely vicious hammerfists.

Though Azaitar never loses consciousness, he is busted open pretty badly and after a long enough onslaught the referee stops the action toward the end of round one.

Francisco Prado picks up his first promotional victory tonight with his first round stoppage victory over fellow finisher Ottman Azaitar at UFC Vegas 77.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
