This Friday, April 29, New York is in for a surprise! Freedom Fighter Promotions 5 goes returns to the beautiful and historic Roosevelt Ballroom. With just days away from fight night, Promoter and CEO of Freedom, Rami Ibrahim has already dubbed this show “the biggest professional Muay Thai event in the history of New York.”

Multiple fan favorites and defending champions, such as “Speedy” Petey Anagnostidis, Dillian Joucoo, as well as Taj Rueda will return to action in the evening. Added to an already impeccable card, a professional main card that is full of all-stars such as Richard Abraham, Izjadin Bekteshi will be featured on the bill. The evening will be capped off with Ethan “Kid Wolverine” Geffen defending his Freedom Fighter Promotions Super Lightweight World Championship against Brandon Maisonet in the main event of the evening.

All the showings are in place to produce an epic and beautiful display of Muay Thai. With an incredibly diverse and stacked card.

Brandon Maisonet will be entering the champions’ grounds when he faces, Ethan “Kid Wolverine” in a rematch from their amateur days. Maisonet won their initial meeting in 2017 and doesn’t anticipate much being different this time around.

“I feel fantastic,” Maisonet says. “I’m already pretty much in weight now,” he says with an excited smile.

Maisonet will be taking this world championship bout while celebrating the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. A month that requires him to fast from dawn until sunset. A challenging feat for many athletes. However, Maisonet, on the other hand, is ecstatic not only in his training camp but to get in the ring on Friday evening. “This has been one of the best fight camps, in that sense,” Maisonet says about fasting while training for this bout.

“The beautiful thing about fasting is that it becomes a different warrior spirit,” he explains. Because you are, one, closer to your creator, and two, it gives you a different sense of strength,” He assured assures.

“I don’t change my strategy; I don’t change who I am. I don’t do none of that,” Maisonet suggests about his regiment. “When I leave it with the creator, I leave it with my Kru. My Abi has eyes that no one understands,” he follows. “One about me and one thing we say as Maisonet’s, win lose or draw, you’re in for a rumble. And you’re going to feel that Maisonet stamp. We’re not going in there for anything else but for you to remember that placement that I gauge you that day.”

Tune in above as Brandon Maisonet joins MyMMANews just days ahead of his main event world title bout against Ethan “Kid Wolverine” Geffen. He discusses training during Ramadan, how great he feels entering this contest and how he plans to bring home the gold.
