Gabriel Green to replace Kevin Holland at UFC on ESPN 9
It did not take the UFC long to find a replace for Kevin Holland, who earlier today was removed from UFC on ESPN 9 after suffering an injury.
Gabriel Green will replace Holland and take on Daniel Rodriguez on Saturday. MMA Junkie was first to report the news.
Green (9-2), who used to fight in Bellator, has been on a roll on the regional scene, winning six fights in a row. He has five submissions and four TKOs in his nine wins. Gabriel Green has never gone the distance in his career.
Rodriguez (11-1) is a protege on UFC legend Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. He earned a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series and made the best of his first UFC outing, getting a submission win over Tim Means in February.
UFC on ESPN 9 will be headlined by a welterweight bout between former champion Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns. The event is expected to that place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, pending the approval of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The Fight Night will air on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.
