Georges St-Pierre excited for “huge” Jon Jones to make UFC heavyweight debut
UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre says he is excited for a “huge” Jon Jones to make his UFC heavyweight debut.
St-Pierre is one of the greatest and most respected MMA fighters of all time, so when he says something, people listen. Speaking to the media recently, the great GSP was asked what he thinks about Jones, a fellow legend who is expected to step back into the Octagon in 2023. After three years away from his MMA fighting career, it’s expected we see Jones move up to heavyweight in 2023. And GSP is excited for when “Bones” steps back into the cage.
Speaking to MMAFighting.com in a recent interview, GSP — a former double champion himself in the UFC — was asked what he thinks about Jones moving up in weight. As far as the Canadian great goes, he’s very excited to see Jones perform in his new weight division.
“I’ve seen it on the red carpet when I got inducted into the (UFC) Hall of Fame. I took a picture and I put my arm around him, I was like, ‘Man, he’s solid like a rock.’ He’s huge. Jon Jones, he’s solid like a rock, he looked huge. And it looked like he put the weight at the right place. I can’t wait. I’m a fan of Jon Jones, I like to see him fight. I can’t wait to see him come back. A lot of people are like, ‘Yeah, he was out for a long time.’ He was out for a long time, but he’s Jon Jones, you know what I mean? Don’t forget that he’s Jon Jones. He’s arguably the best fighter of all-time too. He can make a comeback and I think he’s going to be successful when he does,” St-Pierre said.
