EFC continues on the fast-track towards the monumental and historic EFC 100, which is set to take place in early December this year, and EFC 97 is the next stop for the promotion.
EFC 97 is set to take place on Thursday, September 8th and the headlining bout will feature one of Africa’s fast-rising prospects, Gift ‘The Day’ Walker. The flyweight phenom is a familiar face to Africa fight fans and, for a while now, he has been calling for an international opponent. Now, the EFC has granted him his wish in the form of France’s own Boualem Sahraoui.
The bout will be a non-title headliner and might give rise to a potential championship contender in the flyweight division. Walker remains undefeated in his professional career, racking up a 4-0 record, and many feel that this fight might be the final push that he needs to get to the gold.
As for his opponent, Sahraoui makes his first trip to the African continent and looks to have a massive impact upon arrival. Fairly young in his own career, Sahraoui looks to bounce back from his recent first loss and, in doing so, become a name to be remembered in the EFC.
This fight will certainly allow Boualem Sahraoui to make his arrival in the EFC’s flyweight division in a major way. For Gift ‘The Day’ Walker, this is the moment he has been waiting for and this is his chance to prove himself as one of the best flyweights the continent has ever seen. This combination of motivation makes for one compelling main event.
EFC 97 takes place on Thursday, September 8th.
