Giga Chikadze vs Sodiq Yusuff added to UFC Fight Night 210

We’ve got another exciting bout that’s recently been added to UFC Fight Night 210, this one to be hosted in the featherweight division between a pair of ranked contenders in Giga Chikadze (no. 8) and Sodiq Yusuff (no. 12).

UFC Fight Night 210 is to go down on September 17, 2022, live from a to-be-determined venue.

Giga Chikadze began his mixed martial arts career in December of 2015 toward the end of his incredibly successful tenure in professional kickboxing.

Following defeat in his MMA debut, Chikadze would return to kickboxing in 2016 and go 3-1, before returning to MMA for his sophomore effort in December of 2016, winning for the first time in a new sport via TKO.

2017 was a busy year for the Georgian, as he’d fight in MMA three times, winning all three fights, as well as partaking in his final four kickboxing bouts, seeing him go 2-2.

Retiring from kickboxing with a record of 38-6, not to mention Chikadze had already began his MMA career, things were looking pretty bright for him and his future.

Competing three times in 2018, Chikadze went 2-1, bringing his record to 6-2 going into 2019.

One more win was all he needed to get recognized and signed by the UFC.

Chikadze would go on an absolute tear once arriving in the UFC, winning his first seven bouts with the promotion.

It took a small period of adjusting, winning his first two promotional bouts via split decision, and his next two via unanimous decision (the only four decisions of his career), before he’d finish his next three opponents in a row via knockout.

The latter two victories came over fellow knockout artists Cub Swanson and fellow former kickboxer Edson Barboza, who’d gone 25-3 in professional kickboxing and was looking absolutely incredible in his next division of 145 lbs.

Chikadze made it look easy, as those three finishes earned him Performance of the Night awards.

This impressive streak was halted however by Calvin Kattar in January, and Chikadze is looking to get back on the winning track with a victory at UFC Fight Night 210.

Sodiq Yusuff came to the UFC in December of 2018 with a similar record of 7-1, and he too went on an initial tear, winning his first four octagon bouts, defeating the likes of a former kickboxer in Sheymon Moraes (UD), as well as Gabriel Benitez (KO) and Andre Fili (UD).

The Nigerian native was then defeated by rising contender Arnold Allen (UD), before defeating a streaking Alex Caceres (UD) in his latest bout, who came into the fight on a five-fight win streak.

Who walks away from this bout at UFC Fight Night 210 the victor?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
