Gilbert Burns

Gilbert Burns calls out Neil Magny, eighth-ranked welterweight responds

Gilbert Burns is looking for his next fight and he has called out Neil Magny.

Burns returned to the win column in the co-main event of UFC 264 as he beat Stephen Thompson by decision. Although that fight was only a couple of months ago, the Brazilian is looking to fight and is willing to fight down in the rankings as he called out Neil Magny.

“Starting to get that itch again… but everyone that I call is busy @NeilMagny ??,” Burns said to Magny.

Given that Burns is now the second-ranked welterweight and Magny is only eighth, it should come as no surprise he responded to the callout. Yet, he also accused Burns of being a clout chaser and he has been ready to fight.

“Spent all that time chasing clout! I’ve been ready!,” Magny responded to Burns.

Despite the fact it was Gilbert Burns who called out Neil Magny, he said he didn’t like the way “The Haitian Sensation” answered the call. With that, Burns says he may move onto the next contender, as he was the one giving Magny the opportunity.

“I don’t like the way you sound you might just lost an opportunity. Should be more thankful next time,” Burns sent in a subtweet to Magny.

Gilbert Burns (20-4), as mentioned, returned to the win column last time out with a decision victory over Thompson. Prior to that, he suffered a TKO loss to Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title for his first loss at 170lbs. Since moving up, he defeated Alexey Kunchenko and Gunnar Nelson on short notice by decision before knocking out Demian Maia and beating Tyron Woodley by decision in a main event.

Neil Magny (25-8), also returned to the win column last time out as he beat Geoff Neal by decision. In the fight before, he lost to Michael Chiesa by decision in a main event after defeating Robbie Lawler, Anthony Rocco Martin, and Li Jingliang.
