UFC Medical Team : Unsafe for Gilbert Burns to continue to cut weight, pulled from card

Gilbert Burns and Olivier Aubin-Mercier were to meet at Saturday’s UFC on FOX 28 card in Orlando, Florida, but the fight has been cancelled according to a report first provided by FloCombat.

According to sources, Burns arrived in Orlando weighing 186 pounds and the UFC medical team will not allow the fighter to cut 30-pounds to get to the 156-pound limit.

A matchup between featherweight contenders Josh Emmett and Jeremy Stephens headlines the televised fight card.

Saturday’s UFC Fight Night bout between Gilbert Burns and Olivier Aubin-Mercier has been removed from the card at Amway Center in Orlando. Upon his arrival, the UFC medical team determined that it would be unsafe for Burns to cut additional weight necessary to meet the 156-pound limit. The card will proceed as scheduled with twelve fights.
