GLORY Kickboxing returns to Chicago with GLORY 50 on Friday
It’s a pretty safe bet that Chicago has been a favorite city of GLORY Kickboxing. This Friday, the promotion returns to Chicago for the third time in just 12 months. The GLORY 50 fight card boasts the highly anticipated rematch of Murthel Groenhart and Hairut Grigorian. Their last fight stopped with a victory for Groenhart in Paris but was interrupted when fans stormed the ring going after Groenhart due to his uncontested uppercut to the challenger. Groenhart will put his welterweight title on the line against Grigorian in the main event.
Fans from all over the area will get to see a local favorite, Richard Abraham, return to the ring in his fight against fellow Chicagoan Malik Watson-Smith. While debuting for GLORY, Watson-Smith has a lifetime of experience in the sport with an overall record of 59-23. Abraham (5-2 in GLORY) will look to string together back-to-back wins after defeating Danny Morelas back in August.
The heavyweight tournament will also feature Guto Inocente vs. Junior Tafa with the winner advancing to face the winner of Benjamin Adegbuyi vs. D’Angelo Marshall.
GLORY 50 will be held at the UIC Pavilion Friday, Feb. 16th and can be seen live on UFC Fight Pass.
