Greg Hardy reveals he nearly pulled out of UFC Vegas 12 due to ‘people from my past coming to extort me’
Greg Hardy reveals he nearly pulled out of his UFC Vegas 12 fight against Maurice Greene.
Hardy was looking to extend his winning streak to two against a former ranked opponent in Greene. It was a very intriguing matchup and one the former NFL star said didn’t happen as he was close to pulling out just hours before due to people from his past trying to extort him.
“Some people from my past coming to extort me, put me in crazy situations, trying to take food out of my family’s mouth. Just a lot of outside circumstances,” Greg Hardy said post-fight. “I was breaking down in my bathroom before I even started to fight. I was in tears, trying to figure out how I’m gonna function and if I could go on. It was just a lot of drama, people, like I said, trying to take advantage of my situation.”
Hardy was then asked if the people coming back was due to what he allegedly did, where Hardy didn’t mince words and said he is an innocent man.
“Yeah, a lot of past stuff coming back, just trying to prey on me man. You guys know me by now. I would’ve jumped off a building, did some crazy TO stuff if I was the guy you always talk about. I’m not. Never will be,” Greg Hardy said. “I’m a good guy, been a good guy. Innocent man, always have been. When people come back and they try to prey and take advantage of somebody that’s coming back and redeeming and regaining kind of, you know, messes with my head. Especially because they’re springing on me literally right in the middle of me going to fight for my life. It kind of messed with me, so we got it done though. I’m unstoppable.”
Greg Hardy is now on a two-fight winning streak but believes people only bring up his past when he is about to fight. So, it nearly got the best of him on Saturday night.
