Greg Hardy wins boxing debut with knockout – WATCH

Former NFL star and UFC heavyweight mixed martial artist, Greg Hardy, made his professional boxing debut on Saturday at Black Sheep Boxing’s Fight Night 4 from Delray Beach, Florida.

The October 8 fight against Mike Cook ended by knockout in favor of Hardy in the second round.

“The Prince of War” Hardy left the UFC earlier this year after dropping his third straight fight.

Hardy is no 1-0 as a professional boxer and holds a pro MMA record of 7-5.

The former NFL Pro Bowler earned his way into the UFC after scoring a TKO win over Austen Lane on the Contender Series in his pro debut. He then had to go back on DWCS and knocked out Tebaris Gordon. In the UFC, he went 4-5 and one No Contest with wins over Maurice Greene, Yorgan de Castro, and Juan Adams among others.

Hardy going to boxing should not be a surprise as he has talked about it for years now. Prior to his UFC 272 fight, he had said he wanted to go into boxing and believes he would be able to beat Anthony Joshua and eventually wanted to box Tyson Fury. However, before he can even get those fights he will need to strong together several wins and look impressive doing so. But, he is a big name given his NFL and UFC background so he could be rushed up the ranks.

“After this fight, I’m definitely [going to] try to pursue some boxing,” Hardy said before UFC 272. “But still doing MMA because that gold is in my mind and in my heart. I’m not ready for Tyson Fury yet, but Anthony Joshua – I would love to get in there and slap them boys up.”
