Hailey Cowan excited to finally make her debut at UFC Vegas 72

Hailey Cowan will finally make her UFC debut on Saturday, April 29 when she takes on Jamey-Lyn Horth at UFC Vegas 72.

Cowan earned a UFC contract in the summer of 2022 on Dana White’s Contender Series and she was expected to make her debut back in February.

Everything was going according to plan for her debut as Cowan went through the whole fight week process and was getting ready to weigh in for the fight.

The night before weigh-ins, Cowan had her weight on point in what she called the smoothest weight cut of her career, but in the middle of the night, she had an ovarian cyst rupture which caused her to loose a lot of blood and the doctors pulled her from the fight.

Cowan was upset that she was forced to pull out of the fight, but the UFC matchmakers understood that it was a medical issue and quickly rebooked Cowan a new opponent and a new fight date.

Now Cowan was expecting to debut in March and once again, she went through the fight week process only to have another last minute cancellation.

This time it was Cowan’s opponent who had an to pull out of the fight, as she had a medical issue from her weight cut and Cowan’s fight was cancelled the day before the fight.

Once again the UFC matchmakers quickly came to Cowan and got her another fight booked and now finally, fight night is right around the corner.

Of course Cowan is excited to finally make her debut, but she maybe tampering a little bit of that excitement until the cage door finally closes behind her on April 29.

Prior to Cowan’s debut, she spoke with MyMMANews in detail about the long road to her debut with all of fight cancellations. She also discussed her preparation for the fight and recently getting married as two weeks after she earned her UFC contract, Cowan tied the knot with her now husband and coach Jake Brennan.
