MMA DNA’s Marcel Dorff was first to report that Dawodu vs. Evloev is the latest addition to UFC 263, which takes place on June 12 at a location and venue yet-to-be-determined. In addition, the card also features a heavyweight bout between Jake Collier and Carlos Felipe and a lightweight bout between Luigi Vendramini and Fares Ziam. Look for Dawodu vs. Evloev to open up the PPV card or be a featured prelim.
Dawodu (12-1-1) is one of the top featherweight prospects in the UFC right now and he’ll be looking to crack into the top-15 rankings with a win here over Evloev. The 29-year-old Canadian first joined the UFC in 2018 and has since then gone 5-1 overall in the world’s leading MMA promotion. Dawodu was submitted in 39 seconds by Danny Henry in his UFC debut but since then he has bounced back with wins over Austin Arnett, Kyle Bochniak, Yoshihiro Horie, Julio Arce, and Zubaira Tukhugov. A win here over Evloev and Dawodu could be looking at a top-10 opponent next.
Evloev (14-0) is currently the No. 15 ranked featherweight in the UFC. The 27-year-old Russian first joined the promotion in 2019 and since then he has gone 4-0 with wins over Seung Woo Choi, Enrique Barzola, Mike Grundy, and Nik Lentz. Many analysts consider Evloev to be one of the best young fighters at 145lbs, but he has a stern test here in Dawodu. Both fighters are looking to break into the elusive top-10 at 145lbs so a win here for both men is incredibly important for both of their careers going forward.
