Hannah Guy on Valerie Loureda win “I love this more than food”

Bellator 259 went down on Friday, May 21st. The pugilistic proceedings emanated from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, and broadcasted on Showtime. At the post-event presser, I spoke with Hannah Guy after she handed Valerie Loureda her first defeat as a pro-MMA fighter.

Guy was a sizable betting underdog heading into this contest but in apropos fashion showcased a dogged determination in overcoming tough moments. Also, dictating the pace of the prizefight with superior grappling and got Loureda in a few compromised submission positions throughout.

This victory not only saw Guy climb to 3-1 as a pro fighter but she also beat a ranked opponent in the organization. Valerie Loureda was the number eight ranked flyweight contender heading into this bout and this was Hannah Guy’s promotional debut.

Hannah Guy

Hey there, Hannah. I appreciate the time.

“Thank you. I appreciate y’all”

I’m just noticing the birthday post there a couple of weeks back on your Instagram. You got the hard-earned victory here.

I’m just wondering how sweet this moment feels and what you have planned for the celebration there?

“Yeah, just; I love food. So definitely gonna celebrate with that for sure. I had a great birthday, even though I couldn’t enjoy it. But I knew I had a sweet return on that and I was just thankful for the opportunity. So it doesn’t really matter if it’s Christmas, Thanksgiving, whatever. An opportunity like this I can’t pass up and I love this more than food. So it’s definitely worth it. But yeah, I’m definitely gonna celebrate hard after this.”

Who do you want to see Hannah Guy step into the Bellator MMA cage with next?

Do you see Hannah Guy finding herself a spot in the next rankings rollout or as someone in a position to fight another ranked competitor at 125 pounds?
