Hawkeye Wrestling Club Showdown Adds Gwiazdowski-Cassioppi
The Hawkeye Wrestling Club Showdown has added several bouts to it’s upcoming card on November 1st. One of the most notable is Iowa Hawkeye freshman All-American, Tony Cassioppi, has stepped up to take on the World medalist, Nick Gwiazdowski. The event will be streamed on November 1st on Trackwrestling pay per view.
Gwiazdowski comes into the the match after dominating Kyven Gadson at Wrestling Underground 1, winning by tech fall. Gwiazdowski won bronze at the 2017 and 2018 World Champions. He’s captured gold at the Pan American Games as well. Gwiazdowski was an NC State athlete who went an almost perfect 34-0 his senior year in 2016. He lost to Kyle Snyder in the NCAA Championships.
On the other side of the mat, Tony Cassioppi went 20-3 in his redshirt freshman year at Iowa, leading the best team in the 2020 season at 285 pounds. Cassioppi was named first team All-American after the season was cut short due to the pandemic. Cassioppi takes on the monumental task of defeating Gwiazdowski at the Hawkeye Wrestling Club, something only a few can boast about.

Also on the card, the Hawkeye Wrestling Club Showdown features two women’s bouts between World silver medalist, Sarah Hildenbrandt, and Erin Golston in addition to Precious Bell and Jordan Nelson.
