Henry Cejudo wants Dominick Cruz to serve as backup for UFC 250

With UFC 249 going through so much drama, Henry Cejudo is doing his best to make sure UFC 250 will be a go for May 9.

Cejudo (15-2) is scheduled to defend his bantamweight championship against long-time featherweight champ Jose Aldo (28-6) in the main event of UFC 250. With the global COVID-19 pandemic going on, Cejudo believes the the event might be moved from Brazil to the United States. If the fight is moved, Cejudo thinks Aldo may not be able to leave his home country of Brazil.

If for some reason Aldo would not be able to fight, Cejudo has a replacement in mind for his first bantamweight title defense. Today Cejudo went to twitter to call out former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

“Since #UFC249 is in jeopardy because we can’t get Khabib out of Russia. So Just in case we can’t get Jose Baldo into America soil, make sure to bring your untailored tuxedo that you wear every Saturday long with yours balls! Because you’re on deck sweetheart. @DominickCruz”

Cruz (22-2) has been inactive as of late due to a number of injuries. The last time Cruz step foot inside of the octagon was in December 2016 when he lost his title to Cody Garbrandt.

henry Cejudo hasn’t fought since last June when he won the bantamweight title to become a double champion. Cejudo took time off to recover from shoulder surgery.
