Henry Cejudo wants to fight “Aljolame” Aljamain Sterling in his UFC return
Former UFC bantamweight and flyweight champion Henry Cejudo wants to fight “Aljolame” Aljamain Sterling in his UFC return later this year.
Cejudo has not competed since May 2020, when he knocked out Dominick Cruz at UFC 249. Following that dominant title fight victory, Cejudo decided to hang up his gloves, which was a surprise to many fans considering he was at the top of his game. In the two years since then, Cejudo has remained at the forefront of the sport as he constantly tweets other UFC fighters, hinting at fighting many of them. He has also been a top coach at Fight Ready MMA in Arizona.
However, while Cejudo did step away from the game for two years, he now wants to return to the Octagon. “The Messenger” recently said that he wants to fight again, and he has re-entered the USADA testing pool as the first step towards making that happen. After six months in the pool, Cejudo will be eligible to fight again, and when he does return, he has a name at the top of his list.
Taking to his social media this weekend, Cejudo took to Twitter to call out the current UFC bantamweight champion Sterling. In addition, his manager Ali Abdelaziz posted a photo of Cejudo meeting up with UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell and UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby.

When Cejudo initially walked away from the sport, he was considered one of the top-five pound-for-pound fighters on the planet. Although he hasn’t fought in two years, if anyone is going to make a comeback and win the title after two years out of action, it’s the former Olympic gold medalist.
Do you think Henry Cejudo will defeat Aljamain Sterling in his return to the UFC if the promotion decides to book the fight?
