Holly Holm – “I want to keep conquering”
The co-main event of UFC 239, the major event of International Fight Week 2019, will see Holly Holm challenge Amanda Nunes for the belt she once held, the women’s UFC bantamweight title.
How surprised are you to be training for Amanda Nunes instead of Aspen Ladd?
“It’s this huge change and a lot of things have taken place between taking the fight with Aspen and taking Nunes. I just feel like you always need to be able to embrace whatever opportunity is there. Yeah, there was a change in there, but this (UFC 239) is what’s in front of me and that’s what I’m focused on.”
You’ve toppled the unbeatable before. What’s the mindset you take in against Amanda Nunes?
“She’s beatable, everybody is, that’s the mindset. But you’ve got to train for it. You can’t just believe it. You have to do the hard work to be able to obtain it, and that’s my plan.”
How satisfying would it be to become two-time bantamweight champion?
“It would be amazing. You know, I don’t think anyone has lost their belt and went back for it like that. There’s a lot of things that I think that haven’t been done, that I want to do. I don’t want to only have done it once, I want to keep doing it, and keep accomplishing, and I want to keep conquering.”
