UFC 239 results: Amanda Nunes finishes Holly Holm in first round

Holly Holm says ‘I’m still pushing forward’ after knockout loss at UFC 239

Holly Holm had a chance to shock the world again.

Just like when she fought Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, the consensus was Rousey would dominate the fight like all her fights. Yet, that was not the case as Holm landed a head kick that knocked her out cold. It was a major upset and made “The Preacher’s Daughter” a UFC champion. At UFC 239, she had the chance to do that again when she took on Amanda Nunes. There, many were counting her out, and in the end, she could not pull off the win. Rather, Nunes landed a head kick late in round one that knocked her out and ended the fight.

Now, speaking on an Instagram story, Holm gave a brief statement to her fans.

“I always say I get to live the life of a dream. I never actually dreamed of getting kicked in the face, that’s never part of my dream,” Holm said. “That’s like on the nightmare part, living a little nightmare, wake up every morning like, ‘Yup, that’s real, that just happened.’

“But I just want you guys to know I’m feeling good and I know one thing: I’m still pushing forward.”

During her statement, Holm seemed to be in a positive mood as she was singing and even ended her statement with a little joke.

“A lot of heartbreak right now, but I’m doing fine, I just want you guys to know I appreciate the love and support,” Holm said. “And if you would like to have free lip filler, just get kicked in the face.”

What is next for Holly Holm after the loss is a serious question. No one truly knows, but her and her team if she is going to continue to fight. But, Dana White said maybe she should retire from the sport.
