“Hurricane” Gene Kim: “I can’t let it get to the decision!”

The Greater Boys and Girls Club of Bear, Delaware is set to host one of the most exciting and highly anticipated kickboxing events in Delaware this year. Gut Check Championship Series is scheduled to take place on May 20, 2023, and promises to be a spectacular display of Glory rules kickboxing and Muay Thai with an absolutely stacked card.
 
Some of the most notable names in kickboxing around the surrounding area will take the stage and put it all on the line. With titles on the line, mixed with a few grudge matches, Gut Check Championship Series is set for an intense, action-packed night of fights that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
 
In a fan-favorite matchup, “Hurricane” Gene Kim will return to the ring after almost a year to take on former WKA kickboxing champion, Greg “The Hitman” Pritchett III, as Pritchett returns to the ring following a decade long layoff from competition.
 
With both fighters clashing with each other for their returns to the ring, this bout has the makings for fight of the night. Both fighters are extremely calculated with a very high IQ in their respective martial arts background.
 
 “To fight someone who’s probably been fighting longer than I have been training gives me extra motivation in a sense that it’s an opportunity for me to test myself and prove myself to nobody else but me,” Kim says about his impending opponent.
 
Knowing he’s up against a tall order, he admits, “If I’m being 100% honest, I’m fighting the promoters son,” he says.  “So, I can’t let it get to the decision. But I’m also not going to rush myself,” he assures. “I’ll see and I’ll take what opportunities are there!”
