Ian Heinisch and Gerald Meerschaert bout back on for UFC 250, following false positive COVID 19 test

A middleweight bout between Ian Heinisch and Gerald Meerschaert is back on for UFC 250, Saturday, June 6.

Heinisch was pulled from the fight earlier Thursday after one of his corner men tested positive for COVID-19. WXC welterweight champion Anthony Ivy replaced Heinisch shortly after.

First reported by MMA Fighting, an additional test was taken and the coach was cleared. This allowed Heinisch to get back into the fight with Meerscchaert.

Ivy will wait to make his UFC debut at a later date. He is expected to be rescheduled after he was willing to fight Meerschaert on two-days notice.

Gerald Meerschaert is fresh off a third-round submission win against Deron Winn at UFC 248 on March 7. Meerschaert is 6-4 under the UFC banner.

Ian Heinisch is coming off a two-fight skid with losses to Omari Akhmedov and Derek Brunson. Prior to two-consecutive losses, Heinisch rattled off two-straight victories against Antonio Junior Carlos and Cezar Ferreira.

The bout between Heinisch and Meerschaert takes place on the UFC 250 prelims, starting at 6 p.m.
