Ilia Topuria set to return to the Octagon at UFC 270 against Movsar Evloev
Rising UFC featherweight contender Ilia Topuria is set to return to the Octagon at UFC 270 against fellow divisional rival Movsar Evloev.
Topuria himself confirmed on his social media that he would be fighting at UFC 270 and then Red Fury MMA then reported that the fight would be against Evloev. The UFC 270 pay-per-view card is currently scheduled to take place on January 15 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The main event of the card features UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou against interim champ Ciryl Gane. In the co-main event, Brandon Moreno fights Deiveson Figueiredo in their trilogy fight.
BOOM! According to the information we have, the fight of Movsar Evloev (15-0) against Ilia Topuria (11-0) is under development, and will take place at the # UFC270 tournament, scheduled for January 22! Both fighters agreed to fight, formalities remained
Topuria is the No. 15 ranked fighter at 145lbs and Evloev is ranked at No. 13, so this is a very important fight between two fighters on the rise in the UFC featherweight division. Topuria is coming off of a brutal KO win over Ryan Hall at UFC 264 this summer that saw him get elevated into the top-15 as he showed the MMA world how dangerous he is. Topuria has been running through everyone in his path so far in the UFC and he doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
Then again, Evloev is also on a roll right now, having defeated Hakeem Dawodu via a lopsided decision in his last outing. Evloev has overall performed at a very high level in the UFC thus far and this matchup against Topuria should be very intriguing given how talented both men are. In a stacked UFC featherweight division, look for the winner to fight someone in the top-10 next.
