The African MMA scene is heating up, and Muay Thai is adding it’s own contributions to that growth. Thaiholics Fight Promotions (TFP) is a Muay Thai promotion based in Cape Town, South Africa. Although the promotion has had events in the past, they are going through somewhat of a rebrand. On October 2nd, they put on their premiere event, which was appropriately named The Reload. The event even had a vacant championship bout as the main event of the evening. That event was a success which saw Gomba be crowned the first WMO Welterweight African Champion, and had performance bonuses all around the card. TFP have now announced the name and date for their next event.
On November 20th, TFP will present it’s Recruitment event. They are promising to deliver more information of the event but they have let fans know that this event will be more focused on the amateur level of Muay Thai. The event will have 2 South African pro-am championships up for grabs, and those will be in the super welterweight and middleweight divisions. They have also revealed that the super welterweight championship bout will feature Shane Deacon going up against Ryan Cockeran, and that will serve as the main event.
The rest of the card is yet to revealed but the TFP Recruitment event will take place on November 20th with a start time of 2pm CAT/8am ET.
We will keep you updated as more details emerge.
