Invicta FC 14 took place tonight in Kansas City, Missouri and was headlined by what was to be a bantamweight title fight between recently crowned champion Tonya Evinger (16-5) and unbeaten Swede, Pannie Kianzad (8-0). Yesterday however, after failing to make weight Kianzad lost the opportunity to earn the title as the fight was changed to a non-title bout. Regardless of the outcome Evinger was to remain champion.
Fortunately for her, she doesn’t have to explain herself. She bloodied and battered her opponent to a TKO victory.
The event streamed live and exclusively on UFCFIGHTPASS.com beginning at 8 p.m. EST .
The previously announced strawweight title fight between champion Livia Renata Souza (8-0) and No. 1 contender Alexa Grasso (7-0) was postponed until a later date due to an injury that prevented Grasso from training and Evinger and Kianzad stepped up to save the card.
There were a total of 10 bouts on the night to include one atomweight, 105-pound bout between Jihn Yu Frey and Liz McCarthy. The bout marked the fourth fight on the night and the first to go to a decision as the first three fights all ended via stoppage.
Andrea Lee put on a most impressive and dominating three round war with Rachael Ostovich. Lee used Muay Thai, wrestling and jiu-jitsu to just pick her opponent apart and submit her with just two seconds left in the fight.
