Invicta FC 22 Results: Tonya Evinger vs. Yana Kunitskaya 2
Invicta Fighting Championships held Invicta FC 22 from the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri, tonight.
Evinger vs. Kunitskaya 2 streamed live and exclusively via UFC FIGHT PASS at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 25.
At the top of the show we learned that Invicta FC featherweight champ Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino relinquished her featherweight title and interim champ Megan Anderson is now the official champion.
Three women missed weight yesterday during the early weigh-ins. As a result each were fined 25 percent of their purse. One fight, Jinh Yu Frey vs. Janaisa Morandin, has been cancelled.
In the main event, a rematch of the controversial bantamweight title fight that took place in December 2016 between champion Tonya Evinger and challenger Yana Kunitskaya. Initially ruled a submission victory for Kunitskaya, the result of their first meeting was overturned and deemed a no-contest following a ruling by the Missouri Office of Athletics.
Tonight Kunitskaya attacked with an arsenal of submissions early on in the first round but Evinger weathered the storm and wound up getting a second round rear-naked choke victory. Not sure what this meant but Evinger said that if her career ended with a win at Invicta she would not be disappointed.
