Invicta Fighting Championships returns to the historic Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City for Invicta FC 33 on Saturday, December 15. The eight-fight card is headlined by an atomweight title rematch between champion Jinh Yu Frey (7-4) and Finnish challenger Minna “Brutsku” Grusander (6-2).
The Invicta FC 33 prelims kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT, streaming live on the Invicta FC Facebook page and UFC FIGHT PASS. The Invicta FC 33 main card begins at 9 p.m. CT, streaming live and exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS.
The first fight on Facebook goes down in the Invicta FC history books for fastest organizational knockout. Chantel Coates, an Invicta newcomer defeated Ashlynn Kleinbeck in just 28 seconds after hitting her with a big right hand.
A very dominant opening round for Anastasia Nikolakakos in her atomweight bout against Ashley Medina. The round could likely be scored 10-8 in favor of Nikalakakos. The outstanding performance continued into the second round. Transition from position to position, ground and pound, all part of the story here. Medina’s mouthpiece comes out and the referee calls an end to the fight.
Jamie Moyle, who missed weight yesterday by nine pounds, dropped a unanimous decision to Brianna Van Buren. Moyle was cut up and bruised throughout the contest while Van Buren looked fresh following a full 15-minute fight.
What an incredible three-round atomweight bout between Alesha Zappitella and Amber Brown. Zappitella was dominant throughout two rounds, with Brown winning one. With a win over the title contender in Brown, Zappitella should be next in line for a title shot.
WOW!!!!!!!! Kay Hansen steps in on short notice to fight Sharon Jacobson. Hansen gets DOMINATED for a near full three rounds. With less than 20 seconds left in the fight, Hansen finds an arm, and applies the submission to get the win. Extremely impressive.
UFC veteran Danielle Taylor looks fantastic in her Invicta FC debut over Monserrat Ruiz. The fight took place in the night’s co-main event. Taylor wins by unanimous decision.
In the main event, defending atomweight champion Jinh Yu Frey picked up a very close split decision over challenger Minna Grusander.
