Ion Cutelaba and Ovince Saint Preux to fight at UFC on ESPN+ 31

A light heavyweight fight has now been added to the UFC’s upcoming fight card on April 25.

Ion Cutelaba and Ovince Saint Preux have agreed to fight after both men lost their original opponents. MMA Fighting was first to report the match up.

Cutelaba (15-5) was set to rematch Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 249, but Ankalev is unable to leave Russia due to travel bans imposed from the COVID-19 pandemic. Cutelaba and Ankalaev previously fought at UFC on ESPN+ 27 and the fight ended in a controversial stoppage after only 38 seconds of action.

Saint Preux (24-13) was scheduled to face Shamil Gamzatov on April 25, but Gamzatov also cannot compete due to travel restrictions.

The last time Saint Preux fought, he ended a two-fight losing streak by defeating Michal Oleksiejczuk in Sept. 2019. Saint Preux picked up the win by using his favorite submission technique, the Von Flue choke.

As of right now, the fight card will still be headlined Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira. No location has been announced for the event.

Update: The entire UFC on ESPN+ 31 event was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic
