Irwing Machado aims to break world record, compete in sixth weight division at SFT 40

São Paulo, Brazil – SFT Combat has announced that Irwing Machado is set to make history at SFT 40 as he competes in his sixth weight division. “King Kong” Machado is tied with MMA legend BJ Penn as the only two fighters to have fought in five different weight divisions, and King Kong is looking to set a new world record with a victory in his upcoming fight Saturday night May 6th at 4:30 P.M. EST.

While both Machado and BJ Penn have competed in five weight classes, Machado holds the record for wins in different divisions, with victories in all five categories. In contrast, BJ Penn has won in three separate weight classes. A victory at SFT 40 would not only establish Machado as the only fighter in MMA history to have competed in six different weight divisions, but it would also extend his world record for wins across six categories.

In addition to his impressive record (19 Wins, 12 Losses 1 Draw. 1 No Contest), Machado has already claimed one title in the middleweight division. A win at SFT 40 would secure titles in two different weight divisions, further solidifying his legacy in the world of mixed martial arts.

SFT President, David Hudson, is excited to promote a historic event, “We’re thrilled to have a fighter of King Kong’s caliber competing at SFT 40,” Hudson said. “His incredible record and commitment to pushing his limits in multiple weight divisions are truly inspiring. Fans can expect an unforgettable night of action as King Kong looks to make history and break world records.”
