Isaiah Chapman, Bellator fighter, shot dead in Ohio

Isaiah Chapman, 30, a professional mixed martial artist who last competed for Bellator MMA, was shot and killed outside his home in Akron, Ohio on Tuesday night.

Police officers responded to a call of shots being fired at 9:40 p.m. local time. When they arrived on the scene, law enforcement officials found Chapman in the street with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Chapman, also known as “the Beast,” last fought in October 2019 where he was submitted in the first round by Patrick Mix at Bellator 232.

Chapman held a 9-4 professional MMA record, his pro debut taking place eight years ago in 2012.

A GoFundMe has been set up for his family and has surpassed $5,000 as of press time. According to the fundraiser, the fighter leaves behind two daughters and a son.
