Israel Adesanya speaks at George Floyd protest in New Zealand

Israel Adesanya doesn’t back down – “If you ain’t my brother, you ain’t African!!”

The internet was flooded this morning with comments about UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya’s behavior last night at UFC 290 in Las Vegas, but that didn’t stop “The Last Style Bender” from continuing to add fuel to the fire.

Following an extremely impressive performance by South African fighter Dricus Du Plessis over former champion Robert Whittaker, Adesanya entered the octagon where he got on the microphone and let loose a series of expletives including racially charged words that some labeled as “cringe”.

From there, the champion continued his tirade online, even responding to some of the comments being made.

Du Plessis spoke about the incident during the UFC 290 post-fight press conference, stating “He’s behaving like a clown in there. That’s not how a champion behaves. That’s not at all how a man behaves. He’s behaving like a child. Conduct yourself like a champion. There’s people looking up to you, and you’re behaving like that. If that sells tickets, good for him. I’ll sell tickets in my way. I’m a gentleman, I’m a man, and I’ll behave like a man.”

It appears as if the middleweight title bout between Adesanya and Du Plessis is targeted for September 10 in Sydney, Australia at UFC 293.
