Jack Della Maddalena improves to 3-0 inside the octagon at UFC Vegas 65

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us today, November 19, 2022, for UFC Vegas 65, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada. Click here for UFC Vegas 65 results.

Headlining the event was expected to be a pair of heavyweight contenders in no. 7 ranked Derrick Lewis (26-10) and no. 12 ranked Serghei Spivac (15-3). However, Lewis was forced from the contest with undisclosed medical concerns, and the event is instead to be headlined by a light-heavyweight affair between Ion Cutelaba (16-8-1) and Kennedy Nzechukwu (10-3).

Our second bout on the main card today was a welterweight contest between talented strikers Jack Della Maddalena (12-2) and Danny Roberts (18-6). Maddalena came into the bout having gone 2-0 thus far inside the octagon with two first round knockouts, while Roberts came in having gone 2-1 over his last three.

Both men’s last win also comes over former M-1 Global middleweight champion Ramazan Emeev, just an interesting fact. Continue reading to see how this epic welterweight bout went down:

Official Result: Jack Della Maddalena def. Danny Roberts via TKO (punches) at 3:24 of round one

Maddalena opens up the bout with a nice inside leg kick, before pursuing Roberts with a beautiful two-punch combination, both punches of which land right on target. His pressure is very quickly becoming an issue for Roberts to deal with, as Maddalena unloads with some vicious punches along the fence.

Maddalena does a great job of mixing his attack up from punches to the head and body, and he soon drops Roberts with a nasty left hook. He follows Roberts to the ground, though he lets him up after about 15 seconds pass and they’re back to striking.

Roberts goes for a takedown of his own, which the Aussie easily stuffs and gets back to work with his hands.

Maddalena opens up with another combination that floors Roberts and the fight is over in the opening round.

For someone with just two prior fights inside the octagon to out-box a former professional boxer the way he just did is nothing short of astounding. He just became the first man to finish Ramazan Emeev in the UFC in his last fight, and he improves his promotional record to 3-0 with three first round knockouts today at UFC Vegas 65.

His shovel hooks are absolutely vicious, his hooks to the head are accurate, he has great straight punches from both his rear and lead hands.

Having just turned 26 years of age, Jack Della Maddalena has a considerable amount of time to continue improving his game; he’s going to be a serious force in the UFC’s welterweight division in the years to come.

Following an 0-2 start to his professional career, Jack Della Maddalena just secured his 13th straight win today, picking up the 11th knockout victory of his young 15-fight career.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
