Jack Jenkins talks upcoming DWCS fight and being Eternal MMA featherweight champion
Jack Jenkins is one of the top prospects in Australia and he’s hoping to make into the UFC this Tuesday when he fights on Dana White’s Contender Series.
Jenkins is currently 9-2 as a professional and he has really caught the eyes of the masses when he captured the Eternal MMA featherweight championship.
While Americans might not be too familiar with the Eternal MMA promotion, Australians know a lot about it as it is one of the premier promotions in the country. Eternal MMA is ran by Cam O’Neill, whose daughter Casey is currently ranked in the UFC’s flyweight division, and the promotion has produced plenty of UFC talent over the years.
After defending his title in March, Jenkins was hoping he’d get the phone call to compete on Dana White’s Contender Series, but at first the call never came in.
As season six of the show continued to roll on and Jenkins hadn’t gotten a call, he decided he would defend his title against Juston Van Heerden, but as soon as he booked the fight, he would have to pull out of the fight and for good reason.
About six weeks prior to the season finale of Dana White’s Contender Series, Jenkins found out that the UFC was giving him a shot on the show against Freddy Emiliano Linares and Jenkins gladly accepted.
After the signing the contract to fight on the show, Jenkins worked hard for six weeks to prepare for the opportunity. His travel from Australia to Las Vegas for the fight had some hiccups in the process due to lingering international travel issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jenkins is in the fight capital of the world and is ready to take the next step into making the UFC roster.
Prior to the fight, Jenkins spoke with MyMMANews about his upcoming fight and how becoming champion Eternal MMA has helped him for the opportunity. He also mentioned how he loves being able to shop at the Whole Foods in Las Vegas.
