Official Result: Jairzinho Rozenstruik def. Shamil Gaziev via TKO (retirement) at 5:00 of round four

Rozenstruik lands a heavy leg kick once the bout begins, easily stuffing a takedown attempt from Gaziev immediately following. Gaziev quickly shot in on another takedown attempt, telegraphing that one as well as he didn’t secure it. Rozenstruik lands a few good jabs and a solid right hand at range, though Gaziev ended up securing a single leg trip takedown and remained on top for the final minute of the opening round.

Rozenstruik landed a lot of stinging jabs in the second, and also stuffed Gaziev’s single leg in this round, though he was pressed into the fence for the final two or so minutes of the round.

Rozenstruik picks Gaziev apart at range throughout rounds three and four, stuffing Gaziev’s takedown attempt in the fourth, and busting him up with punishing jabs. Rozenstruik also opened up and landed a few heavy punches in combination in the fourth, and as tired as Gaziev was he still ate them without issue.

After the attack he absorbed in round four however, Gaziev stated to his corner that he couldn’t see, referee Marc Goddard stopping the fight in between rounds.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik got back to his winning ways by becoming the first man to defeat Shamil Gaziev today in UFC Vegas 87’s main event.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
