Jake Collier submits Chase Sherman in one at UFC Vegas 46

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, January 15, 2022 for the first time in a month for UFC Vegas 46, headlined by top featherweight contenders Calvin Kattar and Giga Chikadze.

Kattar, who comes in ranked at No. 5, hasn’t fought since his defeat to Max Holloway at the beginning of last year in January, while Chikadze, who comes in ranked at No. 8, went 2-0 last year, securing knockout victories over Cub Swanson and Edson Barboza.

A heavyweight bout ensued in our co-main event between Jake Collier and Chase Sherman, both men of which are coming off decision defeats, meaning they’re both hungry to get back in the win column.

Official Result: Jake Collier def. Chase Sherman via submission (rear naked choke) at 2:26 of round one

Round 1

Collier comes out throwing heavy leather, backing Sherman up after landing a slick combo on him. Sherman then catches Collier, but Collier remains in his grill, unfazed.

Sherman then lands a leg kick, which is caught by Collier, who quickly jumps to mount after securing the takedown.

Collier reigns down some vicious elbows, and as Sherman gives his back, he sinks in a rear naked choke, securing the finish in round one.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
