Jamall Emmers eyes ‘Performance Bonus’ in Octagon debut at UFC 248

Since his last loss on Dana White’s Contender Series, Jamall Emmers has been rattling off finishes, yet patiently waiting for that elusive call to the UFC to come his way. Now that he has gotten it, Emmers is not going to take it for granted.

Emmers will make his Octagon debut this Saturday against Giga Chikadze at UFC 248. The event takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will feature two world title fights. Israel Adesanya defends his middleweight strap agains Yoel Romero in the main event, and Zhang Weili makes her first women’s strawweight title defense against Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

The featherweight bout between Emmers and Chikadze is scheduled for the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card.

On Monday, “Pretty Boy” checked in with MyMMANews.com to discuss getting his long awaited call to the UFC, how he got the news, getting a new opponent in Chikadze after Movsar Evloev was forced to withdraw from the fight following a motorcycle accident, how things have changed in preparation with a new opponent, what he’s looking forward to during his first UFC fight week, how he sees the fight playing out and more.

In addition, Emmers gives his take on the matchup from a stylistic perspective and how he sees his Octagon debut playing out this Saturday.

“I think it’s a good matchup for me,” Emmers told MyMMANews.com. “I got more tools than he does. He’s a world class kickboxer, but I feel like I have more tools. This ain’t a kickboxing match, it’s an MMA fight. You can’t kick off your back.

“Me going out and performing the way I do, knowing how good I am, will lead to me getting my hand raised. That’s how I see it… and getting a performance bonus, of course.”
