Jamelle “The Beast” Jones: “I’m going to bring it to his house!“
This Thursday, August 19th, PFL is set to tear the Seminole Hard Rock and Casino down in Hollywood, Florida as the Women’s lightweights and men’s heavyweights take the stage.
Headlined by Kayla Harrison putting her unbeaten streak on the line when she faces 4-1, Genah Fabian.
In the co-main event of the evening, Jamelle Jones takes on the #1 seed of the tournament, Bruno Cappelozza in what is set to be an absolute war until one man drops.
Jones enters this bout riding a 3-fight win streak. His last bout, also being his PFL debut, saw “The Beast” hammer fisting Klidson Aubreu to unconsciousness until the referee pulled him off his defeated foe, Abreu in an absolute, stellar debut performance.
“I was ready for that fight, man,” Jones says. ”We game-planned for it. We knew what he was bringing to the table. We knew he was one of the best guys if you look at him in the gym,” Jones reiterates. “He (Abreu) can do it all. He recollects. But I was going to bring the dog to him and that’s exactly what I did,” Jones reminisces on his debut outing. “My coach told me, ‘He could not handle me for 10 minutes,’ and he was wrong! Because he couldn’t handle me for 3 minutes,” Jones says with a confidant smile.
Following his KO performance, Jones knew his work wasn’t done. With the 2021 playoffs still underway, Jones has a few more W’s to rack up before he can take a breather. His next test is against #1 seeded, Bruno Cappelozza.
“All I know is you (Cappelozza) better put your hands up, you know?” Jones rhetorically asks. “Because I’m moving forward! Round 1, I’m moving forward,” Jones boldly confesses. “There’s no games being played over here,” he says. “There’s really no feeling-out process, either. It’s killed or be killed,” Jones courageously admits. “And that’s where a lot of these guys get lost in that. They want to get in here and they want to feel things out and get caught up in the mixed martial arts part of it,” Jones speculates. “But I’m just taking a step back from the technique and I’m going to keep it real simple and I’m going to bring it to his house,” Jones pronounces. “I’m moving forward!”
