James Gallagher out of Bellator Dublin main event, releases statement on what forced him out
James Gallagher will not be headlining Bellator Dublin against Cal Ellenor as expected.
On Tuesday it was revealed the Irishman was out of the event due to an injury and it was a massive blow to him and the card. The bantamweight contender has headlined the past couple of shows in Dublin and is a massive star there so it was heartbreaking for him to pull out of the event and he released a statement on Instagram about that.

“I am absolutely heart broken, I am out of my fight due to a back injury that has been going on for over 2 weeks now. I always take the advice of my team and coaches, I will get stuck into my rehab and be back in there soon. No I’m not letting him off the hook, he’s next. 3rd time unlucky for him,” James Gallagher wrote in his statement. “I’m made in adversity this is just another experience on this mad road I’m on. Thank you for the support as always and sorry let the people who’ve bought tickets and @bellatormma down. I’ll be in there again soon.”
James Gallagher is 10-1 as a pro and riding a three-fight winning streak with his last win coming by submission in 35 seconds over Roman Salazar. Before that, he beat Jeremiah Labiano by decision and submitted Steven Graham. His lone loss was a shocking knockout loss to Ricky Bandejas in the first round.
With Gallagher out of the event, Leah McCourt will now take on Judith Ruis in the main event in a pivotal women’s featherweight tilt.
