Jamie Colleen healthy and returning to work tonight at LFA 142

Jamie Colleen is an amazing example for young women on several different forefronts. First, she is an incredible mother which is the most important role in the world. Jamie is a business professional who is proud of her work. She is also an extremely talented, hard-working mixed martial artist who likes to get in the cage and punch other women in the face.
Colleen has been fighting professionally for more than nine years and has a respectable 5-3 record. Jamie has two appearances on Dana White’s Contender Series where she was 1-1.
Jamie Colleen has represented Philly MMA proudly as she has trained in the city at Daniel Gracie’s and Marquez MMA. It seems strange to call her an OG, but she is and that is with 100% respect and gratitude as she has helped set the landscape where five of her teammates are currently in the UFC. The 36-year-old strawweight hasn’t fought since June of 2019. Colleen is currently in Prior Lake, Minnesota as fight camp has concluded. Weigh-ins are complete, and she makes her return to the cage on the main card tonight at LFA 142, September 16th.
Colleen will be standing across the cage from Giovanna “Gigi” Canuto. Canuto has fought three times as a professional and has three first round submissions all of a different variety. It’s no secret where Canuto wants the fight to go. I was very happy to finally get the chance to talk with Jamie for the first time and ask her about her match-up. She tells us…
“We do feel her gameplan will be use her jiu-jitsu and to not stand and trade with me. She’s going to need some good wrestling to be able to use that jiu-jitsu and we will see how that works out for her. If it does go to the ground, I’m a brown belt under Daniel Gracie and will be comfortable wherever the fight takes us. I really like this matchup.”

Jamie is really happy to be back doing what she loves. She has gotten past the injuries that have plagued her in the past. Jamie also talks glowingly about her team and the culture they have established. We also talk about her main training partner and bonding with Bellator’s “Vitamin D” Deanna Bennett.
