UFC Vegas 54 weigh-in results - Jan Blachowicz vs. Aleksandar Rakic

Jan Blachowicz rips Jiri Prochazka for saying he wants to rematch Glover Teixeira: ‘The samurai code was not upheld’

Jan Blachowicz isn’t a fan of Jiri Prochazka saying he wants to run it back with Glover Teixeira.

After Prochazka submitted Teixeira in the fifth round to become the new light heavyweight champion, many thought Blachowicz would be next. In the lead-up to UFC 275, Prochazka said Blachowicz would be next and the two sized up one another after the event.

Yet, on social media on Monday, Prochazka revealed he wants to run it back with Teixeira next time out as he knows he can beat the Brazilian much easier next time out.

“I want to fight Glover my next fight,” Prochazka said. “Not because it will be another big fight, but just one reason: My performance was bad the first fight, and I will show you why I’m the champion clearly, decisively. And I think Glover deserves it. So here’s the offer: I will show you why I am the champion.”

The news was disappointing for Blachowicz and he took to social media to blast Prochazka for not upholding the samurai code.

“Jan is for me the biggest challenge” – your words. Respect you Champ, but the samurai code was not upheld,” Blachowicz said on Twitter.

Jan Blachowicz (29-9) is coming off the win over Aleksandar Rakic in a fight the Austrian hurt his leg. The victory got him back into the win column after losing to Teixeira by submission to lose his light heavyweight belt. He had defended the title once by defeating Israel Adesanya by decision and won the belt by KO against Dominick Reyes.

Jiri Prochazka (29-3-1), as mentioned, submitted Teixeira last time out and before that, he knocked out Dominick Reyes to earn the title shot after knocking out Volkan Oezdemir in his first UFC fight. He’s also the former RIZIN light heavyweight champion and beat the likes of Vadim Nemkov, Bruno Cappelozza, and King Mo among others.
