Jarred Brooks: “I think, stylistically, I’m a little bit ahead of him in the game”

“The Monkey God” Jarred Brooks has the opportunity of a lifetime ahead of him as he will challenge Joshua Pacio for the ONE Championship strawweight title at ONE: 158 on June 3 in Singapore.

The former UFC flyweight competitor has been perfect since arriving at ONE, going undefeated at 3-0.

His victories include a unanimous decision over Hiroba Minowa and submissions over Lito Adiwang and Bokang Masunyane.

The man standing across from him in just a few short weeks is the champion however, and for good reason.  With a 20-3 record, including four consecutive wins, Pacio is one of the world’s best, but if Brooks wasn’t confident in his own abilities he wouldn’t be there himself.

“I’m gonna be swinging at him. He’s gonna be swinging at me. We’re going to be trying to put each other out,” Brooks told MMASucka.com. “Stylistically, he has good kicks. I think my boxing is a little bit better. His knees are good. I would say I have the advantage on the elbows. I have the advantage in wrestling. I have the advantage in the submission grappling. I think, stylistically, I’m a little bit ahead of him in the game.”

ONE:158 is set to take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The Joshua Pacio vs. Jarred Brooks title fight is the only officially announced contest although a bout between Tawanchai PK Saenchai and Denmark’s Niclas Larsen has been rumored.
