Jeremiah Wells discusses his UFC 271 win over Blood Diamond

Jeremiah Wells wasn’t a name fans were looking out for prior to UFC 271, but once the event was over they knew exactly who he was.

In the lead up to the event, so much was being made about some of the bigger names on the card, including the man in which the card was built around in UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Another name that was being paid attention too was Blood Diamond as he is one of Adesanya’s training partners and was highly successful in the world of kickboxing.

Due to the high praise from the middleweight champ, many had Blood Diamond’s fight circled to watch and everyone tuned in to the matchup saw Blood Diamond lose in his UFC debut.

The man responsible for spoiling the debut is Jeremiah Wells, who grew up in the Pocono’s and Hazleton Pennsylvania and now calls Philadelphia home.

While his new hometown is referred to as The City of Brotherly Love, there was no brotherly love given from Wells, who got his hands on Blood Diamond, took the fight to the canvas and was able to submit the UFC newcomer.

Following his win, Wells spoke to MyMMANews about his performance, the beginning of his MMA career in Northeastern Pennsylvania and the MMA scene around Philadelphia. You can watch his full interview in the video above.
