Jim Miller meets Vinc Pichel at UFC 252, closes in on UFC record
Jim Miller is close to UFC history again.
Just one fight away from a record-breaking 36 UFC appearances, the New Jersey native is taking a late-notice lightweight bout with Vinc Pichel at UFC 252 on Aug. 15. The promotion announced the booking on Wednesday, Aug. 5, which will take place inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Miller won three of his last four bouts. He tied Donald Cerrone’s record of 35 UFC bouts by tapping out Roosevelt Roberts via first-round submission at UFC on ESPN 11 on June 20.
Jim Miller will become the leader after fighting Pichel. He previously lost by a first-round submission to Scott Holtzman this past February, after back-to-back wins against Clay Guida and Jason Gonzalez in 2019.
Pichel makes his return to the octagon after more than a year-long layoff. Like Miller, Pichel is coming off a win against Roberts. The 37-year-old won via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 3 in June 2019.
He is the winner of five of his last six appearances. His last defeat was a second-round submission loss to Gregor Gillespie at UFC Fight Night 131 in June 2018.
Pichel was slated to fight Alexander Yakovlev this past November, but withdrew for an undisclosed reason.
