Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Weili Zhang 2 added to UFC 275 pay-per-view card
The rematch between former UFC strawweight champions Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Weili Zhang has been added to the UFC 275 pay-per-view card.
ESPN confirmed with UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell on Saturday that the rematch between Jedrzejczyk and Zhang has been agreed to for UFC 275, which takes place on June 11 in Singapore. According to the report, the rematch has been verbally agreed to by both parties, and contracts will be sent out soon.
Jedrzejczyk and Zhang first met at UFC 248 in March 2020. In what many consider to be the greatest women’s MMA fight of all time, Jedrzejczyk and Zhang went five hard rounds in an all-out war, with Zhang edging out a split decision on the judges’ scorecards at the end of the 25 minutes. For the past two years, fans and media have suggested that these two could fight in a rematch, but Jedrzejczyk was not able to return to the Octagon until now. And soon, we will see the rematch.
Jedrzejczyk (16-4) is the former UFC women’s strawweight champion. After debuting in the UFC in 2014, the Pole has gone 10-4 in the Octagon. She has won fights against the likes of Jessica Andrade, Carla Esparza, and Tecia Torres, to name a few. After starting her UFC career at 8-0, Jedrzejczyk has struggled in recent years, going just 2-4. However, she has been fighting the best in the world.
Zhang (21-3) won her first five UFC fights before dropping her last two outings to Rose Namajunas, who also has two wins over Jedrzejczyk. Zhang’s second fight with Namajunas was razor close and it showed that she is still among the best women’s strawweights in the world. If she gets by Jedrzejczyk at UFC 275, there is definitely a good chance that she could get a third crack at winning a UFC title.
