Joe Rogan is a fan of potential Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva boxing match: “Very tough fight”
UFC color commentator Joe Rogan says that he is a fan of the potential Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva boxing match, saying that it is a “very tough fight.”
By all accounts, Paul vs. Silva will take place on October 29 in a boxing match. For Paul, it’s the first time he will step back into the ring since his brutal KO win over Tyron Woodley last December. As for Silva, he defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by decision and then knocked out Tito Ortiz last year in pro boxing action, before taking an exhibition bout earlier this year.
Although Silva is now 47 years old, he showed in his recent boxing matches that he is still an elite striker despite his age. Although Paul is 22 years younger at age 25, it’s still a very intriguing bout because Silva has shown that he still has what it takes to win fights.
Speaking on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” the UFC color commentator Rogan heaped praise upon this matchup. Although Paul has been criticized for fighting former MMA fighters instead of actual boxers, Rogan believes this is a very tough fight due to Silva’s skill set.
“I love it. If Jake Paul really decides to fight Anderson, that’s a very, very, very tough fight. Anderson, if he just went straight into boxing, would have been a f*cking world champion,” Rogan said (h/t MMAjunkie.com).
Although many fans have been critical of Paul’s ascension into stardom, Rogan isn’t among the pack. In fact, Rogan says that he has been impressed by what Paul has done in boxing.
“Jake Paul is one of the smartest marketers that the f*cking sport has ever seen. And he can fight. The thing is, people think he’s this YouTube guy, and he can’t fight. The way he knocked out Tyron Woodley? Come the f*ck on. I’ve said this multiple times: If that guy was just a boxer and you never known anything about his background on YouTube and you saw him knock out Tyron Woodley with one shot, you’d be like, ‘Holy sh*t, there’s this new guy coming up, and he’s a bad motherf*cker. He’s really legit,’” Rogan said.
