Joey Beltran on “mental edge” vs Houston Alexander
Joey Beltran tests skills with Houston Alexander in the main event of BKFC 33 on November 18th.
Beltran appeared on Bowks Talking Bouts once again and covered several subjects ahead of the former BKFC heavyweight champion’s return to 205 pounds. Excerpts from our recent conversation are below.

The competitive history with Alexander over a decade ago in MMA and if there’s any crossover insights from the first fight heading into competing within this new sport
“I mean obviously it’s a totally different landscape. Totally different sport but it’s all good. I’m not going to lie, there is a little bit of a mental edge when you’ve already got somebody’s number, you know? (laughs) But I’m definitely not underestmating him. He’s coming off two devastating knockouts and I’m coming off two losses. So shit, I mean he’s the guy that some people would view as the favorite.”
“It’s like oh he’s a little older, yeah so am I (laughs). So it’s all good, it’s a straight up fist fight. Obviously with referees and rules but at the end of the day, if we met in an alley somewhere, it would be a good fight. So I’m excited for it. I’m definitely working my ass off and I can’t wait for it.”

AEW star Jade Cargill entering with Lorenzo Hunt for his last BKFC fight and which wrestler Beltran would love to enter the ring with
“Well he’s no longer on the Earth. Rest in Peace… But I would have to go Eddie Guerrero. He’s definitely one of my favorites. Literally like years and years ago watching Los Gringos Locos with Eddie Guerrero and I can’t remember, somebody else (Art Barr). But they’d come out with the American flag shorts and just totally piss off the crowd. That’s when I first tuned into Eddie Guerrero. He popped up in WCW and all that stuff. Then really caught fire in WWE with the Latino Heat angle. Like yeah, man. He was always one of my favorites.”
